So, all the way back in 1865, he began blending grapes from multiple regions. But as we all know, behind a great man, there’s usually an even greater woman that history has gently erased out. Not so at Hardys though. The generous, compassionate and determined Eileen Hardy was the matriarch of the family, and she’s widely considered the first lady of Australian wine. The wines that bear her name are some of Hardys finest…
90 points, “Subtle but linear nose, which leads to a powerful, zesty palate revealing tangerine, nectarine, mango, plus touches of almond and buttercream.” – Decanter World Wine Awards
The Eileen Hardy Chardonnay is a blend of grapes from Yarra Valley and Margaret River interwoven with toast oak. Ripe nectarine, ground almonds, blossom, flint, citrus, cream, sandalwood and oak spices all meld together to create one of our favourite Chardonnays to pair with a lemony roast chicken or turkey. This would make a fine choice for Christmas Day and all the trimmings. Combine with friends, family and hearty laughter.
