Everton Mints were first created in a Liverpool sweet shop not far from Goodison Park, home to Everton Football Club, hence the name. Back in those days Everton’s strip was black and white stripes, so these toffees were enveloped in matching mint-flavoured kits, much like a humbug, and given out to fans. They proved so popular that the team is still known as “The Toffees” or “The Toffeemen” to this day.
