Zombie Cocktail 200ml
Originally launched for Halloween, this pre-made cocktail proved so popular that we've made it a permanent fixture. To be honest, we think it’s scarily good at any time of year, especially barbeque season!
This little monster is the Zombie, a tiki cocktail that provokes an unstoppable thirst for more, more, more. Tiki culture is built on escapism, faux-Polynesian décor, exotic cocktails, beach vibes, laidback attitude, and a lot of South Pacific cultural appropriation. Its creation is attributed to the well-travelled and larger than life, Ernest Raymond Beaumont-Gantt (later to change his name to Donn Beach), who opened the first tiki bar in 1934 in Hollywood, California. Called Don the Beachcomber, his bar offered a welcome break following Prohibition and very strong cocktails, including one of the most iconic tiki cocktails, the Zombie. Crafted using a blend of aged and overproof rums with pressed lime and grapefruit juice, spicy bitters, pomegranate syrup and a dash of pastis, it’s a classic and its coming for you. Punchy, tropical and unrelenting in its complexity, it tastes as if a bartender had mixed it in front of your very eyes. Just be warned, the Zombie can make you walk like the living dead if you aren’t careful with them.
Small enough to easily fit in the fridge, this cute metal bottle contains a single-serving mixture of eye of newt, toe of frog, wing of bat, tongue of dog… only kidding. There’s nothing weird, no preservatives, no widgets, no tricks; just treats and a little bit of air in the top so that when you shake it, it gets a proper mix. The result is a bar-quality cocktail at home, without all that clackety noise and without having to make sure your ice cube trays are full, you have all the ingredients, and you can find the cocktail shaker. Simply pop it in the fridge and when it’s spine-chillingly cold, shake it vigorously for ten seconds to aerate and mix, then pour the contents into a long, ice-filled glass or tiki mug. Garnish with a few mint leaves or a wedge of tropical fruit if you’re feeling fancy. We recommend pairing the Harvey Nichols Zombie with some reanimated corpses by way of Dawn of the Dead, Train to Busan, 28 Days Later, a binge of The Walking Dead or the truly terrifying Spanish flick, REC.
