Grappa di Luce 500ml
The legendary Jacopo Poli doesn’t make Grappa for just anyone, only the Super-Tuscan superstars Sassicaia and Luce. This limited-edition, small-batch Grappa is created by distilling the skins of the Merlot and Sangiovese grapes used to make Tenuta Luce’s wines. The fine spirit is then aged for three years in French oak barrels from Alliers, renowned for their finesse and spice-giving properties.
We’ve never tasted a Grappa like Grappa di Luce. The aromatics are classic, but what follows is truly out of this world. A cerebral spirit, reminiscent of the finest dessert wine in its richness and opulence, but with a wonderful dry finish and an unsurpassed smoothness. Cherry Bakewell, lemon tart, walnut wood, creamy caramel, bruised apple, dry spices, lavender and parma violets; oh, we wish it would never end. It’s the perfect gift for the fine wine aficionado who has everything, and for us if you’re offering?
The Frescobaldi family supplied wine to Michelangelo and Henry VIII long before dazzling the world with the likes of Ornellaia, Masseto, CastelGiocondo and many more. So, there was great excitement when Vittorio Frescobaldi teamed up with California’s iconic producer Robert Mondavi to create Luce della Vite in 1995, now known as Tenuta Luce. The grapes came from vineyards in Montalcino, next to the Frescobaldi’s CastelGiocondo estate, and the wines have stunned the world ever since.
