London Dry Gin 200ml
Imagine yourself in the heart of the Georgian London known to Jane Austen and Samuel Pepys. Anyone who is anyone is flocking to Marylebone’s Pleasure Gardens in search of stimulation; the great, the good and the quite frankly dubious in the case of Dick Turpin. Thomas Greenall’s eponymous distillery is keeping everybody lubricated. And that’s where this story begins…
Thomas Greenalls granddaughter Isabella fell in love with a Liverpudlian called John Whitley who possessed a particular knack for distilling. Gin flowed in the blood, from generation to generation, culminating with Johnny Neill (actually John James Whitley Neill), the man who brought you Whitley Neill and now Marylebone Gin. Using a minuscule 50 litre capacity copper still called Isabella – currently located in the 108 Brasserie in the Marylebone Hotel – Johnny is handcrafting a premium gin worthy of Marylebone’s pleasure gardens.
Don’t be misled by the diminutive size of this 20cl bottle, this gin packs a punch at 50.2%. It does the same in the flavour department too. Made using thirteen botanicals – lovingly curated from Egypt to Hungary, and from Indonesia to Italy – Marylebone London Dry Gin has a very citrusy edge from the lemon balm, lime flower and grapefruit peel. Chamomile lulls you into a false sense of calm before you're reinvigorated by hot liquorice, clove and juniper. An otherworldly pleasure with tonic and a slice of grapefruit, or in a Tom Collins or classic Martini.
