The apex of Metaxa’s core range 12 Star is a phenomenal blend of brandy matured for up to 12 years sweet Muscat wines from the terraced vineyards on the island of Samos (the birthplace of Pythagoras and home to flamingos jackals seals and some of the most underestimated wines on the planet) and Mediterranean botanicals. These are married together in oak for a year before being bottled. It was crafted by Constantinos Raptis who is only the fifth Metaxa Master since the creation of the house by Spyros Metaxa in 1888.
This amber nectar presents notes of orange peel chocolate-covered coffee beans toasted oak dried apricots raisins plum crumble wild herbs honey peppery spices Earl Grey tea and rose petals. Sip this smooth delicacy on the rocks while thinking of the warm sun on your face and the sand between your toes. Alternatively mix it into a Greek Old Fashioned a Mediterranean Negroni or a spritz topped with sparkling rosé a drizzle of honey and a pinch of sea salt.
