Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore 2017
Quite possibly one of the finest Valpolicella Ripasso Superiores we’ve ever come across. It has been crafted by fermenting the Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and (unusually) Barbera grapes with the skins from the recently fermented Amarone (a wine made from a similar grape mix that has been dried in the naturally ventilated hayloft above the old stables to up the oomph). This adds more weight and texture to this silken red, redolent with cherry, leather, blueberry, raspberry, dried herbs, spices and the distant waft of coffee. Super stylish and the epitome of elegance, serve this alongside pink duck, roast turkey, grilled vegetables, homemade burgers and wild mushroom pasta.
