Private Selection Branco 2017 - Prunus

Private Selection Branco 2017

This Private Selection Branco 2017 is made from Encruzado, Cerceal Branco, Malvasia Fina and Bical grapes. If you thought that was a complex mouthful, wait until you try the wine. It’s brimming with crunchy pear, crisp apple and white peach, not to mention delicate notes of apricot, passionfruit, pineapple, melon, lime, honeysuckle, cherry blossom, beeswax, fresh cream and dried herbs. Completely unoaked, this white is a perfect partner for sushi and sashimi, simply-cooked white fish, herby pasta such as pesto, spicy salads and creamy dishes.

Prunus hails from Dão, a wine region demarcated long before the first French AOCs and one that’s often referred to as the Burgundy of Portugal due to the elegance of its wines. The genus Prunus has more than 400 species and is responsible for stunning aromatic blossom, as well as almonds, peaches, cherries, plums and apricots. All of which you’ll find in the flavour profiles of the Prunus red and white wines. This little number proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that there’s far more to Portuguese wine than just Port and Vinho Verde.
