Rapaura (pronounced ‘ra-para’) Springs was the New Zealand Wine Producer of the Year at the International Wine & Spirit Competition 2015. Utilising the underground pure water springs that create a little oasis in the Marlborough landscape they craft an absolute joy of a Pinot Noir. They also get a little help from Master of Wine and New Zealand guru Bob Campbell who consults on each vintage to make sure they create the finest wines.
The Rapaura Springs Marlborough Pinot Noir bounces with exuberance. It scatters black cherries blackcurrants cranberries raspberries redcurrants and rhubarb around the mouth as it does so. The oak adds a prickle of pepper dried herbs something of a spiced plum crumble and a gentle waft of smoke all of which make this particularly food friendly. Consider pairing with a Sunday roast mushroom stroganoff pasta with fresh tomato sauces or piquant beetroot salads.
