Whisky lovers and collectors, take note. This is the fifth and final release in the 5-part series from the legendary Laphroaig (the UK’s No.1 Peated Malt according to the experts at Nielson).

The Ian Hunter Story Book 5, titled ‘Enduring Spirit’, tells the tale of the lasting mark Ian Hunter left on the iconic whisky's flavour, the distilleries whisky making practises and even on the subsequent generations of the distillery team. This great man was the last of the Johnston family – the founding family - to own and run the Laphroaig distillery. His tenure between 1908 and 1944 had a profound impact not only on the distillery, but on Islay whisky as a whole.

Book 5 is a 34-Year-Old non-chill filtered whisky, double matured in a combination of first fill ex-bourbon American Oak barrels and Pedro Ximenez European Oak Hogheads. The bottle comes hidden inside a hardback book, which culminates this series dedicated to Ian and his life by paying tribute to the enduring spirit he has left behind.

This deep copper hued expression, bottled at 45.5% ABV, sees the famous Laphroaig peat shining through, whilst also imparting aromas of fruity blueberry and raspberry, sweet candyfloss, vanilla fudge and floral green malt. Sweet and spicy notes on the palate with hints of cold barbeque, salted caramel, butterscotch and roast chestnuts appear alongside peach, dried flowers and white pepper. Peaty and malty with praline nuances and a lingering sweetness, this combination of classic and modern flavours showcases the evolving vision and individuality that Ian Hunter had in mind for Laphroaig whisky making it a legacy of spirit that will endure.

This unique whisky is sure to be a favourite of collectors and those looking to try something new, who value strong heritage and high quality and are prepared to pay more for it, so grab one of these exceptionally limited bottles and be part of the Laphroaig history.
