When a wine has been loved for more than two millennia you know there’s a jolly good reason for such longevity in popularity.

Fiano is an ancient grape variety used in what were considered some of the most fashionable wines of Roman times. But it’s also undergoing a bit of a renaissance these days becoming increasingly popular in Australia and Argentina. And it’s not hard to see why when the complex notes of spiced apricot orange peel wildflowers acacia honey and roasted almonds hit your lips. Bright yet soft it makes a fine aperitif or accompaniment to seafood salads risotto creamy pasta nut-based cheeses lemony dishes and pretty much anything battered and crispy with a side of chips.

Lapilli meaning ‘little stones’ in Latin is the name of the airborne material that flies out during a volcanic eruption. It’s a fitting name for a family-run producer who exploded on to the scene in 1996 with their smokin’ hot wines.
