A rare Saint-Véran from the legendary Louis Jadot.

The vineyards of Domaine de la Chapelle aux Loups surround the 12th Century Romanesque church that gives them their name. The limestone soils in this southwestern corridor of Saint-Véran create exquisite Chardonnay laced with floral notes crisp citrus and notes of hazelnut the latter being quite unusual for an unoaked wine like this. Crisp delicate and deeply summery Louis Jadot’s Saint-Véran Chapelle aux Loups 2017 is a ray of sunshine in any weather.

The critics are raving about the 2017s from this part of the world. It’s “a delicious vintage for white Burgundy” according to respected critic Jasper Morris. Allen Meadows agrees saying that “the 2017s deserve a place in your cellars” and Neal Martin calls it a “modern classic vintage” with some “quite brilliant whites”. What made it so special was the freshness of the wines.

Louis Jadot is one of Burgundy’s most consistent and celebrated négociants with a range that is universally adored from its classic Bourgogne to the finest Grand Cru. Established when Louis-Henri Jadot bought the Beaune Premier Cru monopole Clos des Ursules in 1826 the company passed to the Gagey family who eventually sold it their long-term importer to the US Kobrand. The company now boasts over 130 hectares of vineyards stretching from Chablis to Beaujolais but it’s the quality of the wines that have made them a household name.
