The Mendel Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 hails from Perdriel in Luján de Cuyo. There are just two hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon vines grown there making this quite a rare find. Coming from a man who used to make Cheval Blanc it was always going to be a masterclass in Cabernet Sauvignon. Matured in French oak for 12 months it’s a classic with decades of longevity ahead of it. Crème de cassis blueberries wild strawberries dried flowers pepper caramel woody spices and incense notes all combine in this elegant fresh and velvety red. Perfect for steak night traditional Hungarian dishes slow-cooked stews or red onion tarte Tatin.

Having worked for many years at the iconic Château Cheval Blanc in Saint-Émilion Roberto de la Mota is one of Argentina’s most respected and experienced winemakers. In collaboration with the Sielecki family he is the driving force behind Mendel’s world-class wines. This boutique winery is named after the father of the proprietor Annabelle Sielecki and focuses on two terroirs: vineyards planted in Luján de Cuyo in 1928 and a new project of old vines in Altamira.
