“Though this be madness yet there is method in’t.” – William Shakespeare

Maddeningly good and methodically crafted Method and Madness has created the world’s first whiskey to be matured in wild cherry wood casks.

Launched exclusively through Harvey Nichols in the UK this limited-edition Wild Cherry Wood Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey was aged in a combination of Bourbon and Sherry casks before being finished in just nine French barrels made from rare wild cherry wood. Never tried before the result is fascinating and unique.

This Method and Madness whiskey is Shakespearean in its complexity intrigue character originality and twists and turns. It manages to mingle oaky Burgundy Chardonnay with garden herbs bay leaves breakfast tea toasted hazelnuts chewy ginger cookies capers and tingly Chinese five spice. It’s unlike anything we’ve ever tasted before and presents a rare opportunity to taste a world first.

Possibly the most exciting spirits coming out of the Emerald Isle today are being created by a small collective who dare to ask: “What if?” Method and Madness is an innovative and experimental new brand created at the Midleton Distillery which is already responsible for some of Ireland’s most acclaimed and coveted whiskeys (Redbreast Green Spot Power’s and of course Midleton).

The micro-distillery built within Midleton is being used not only as a playground for the Master Distillers Blenders and Maturers but also as a training ground for their apprentices – the next generation of Ireland’s great spirit makers. The bottles – designed by Matthew Bolger and Emelie Lidström – are every bit as bright modern complex and attention-grabbing as the liquid contained within. Method and Madness is going to blow your mind.
