To stay warm and prevent the chill setting in Mikkeller has brewed up an ode to The Night’s Watch from Game of Thrones. Inspired by the home of the ragtag army that protect the Seven Kingdoms from the White Walkers and the Wildlings in the famous HBO series Castle Black Stout is the perfect remedy for staving off those cold dark nights. This rich stout has been aged in Bourbon barrels creating flavours of dark chocolate festive candied fruits coffee vanilla and oak. Allegedly the casks were made from the nine-inch-thick solid oak of Castle Black’s tunnel gate but the sceptic in us isn’t convinced that Kentucky’s laws would allow that. Whatever the truth is the beer is as sturdy as those gates and is ready for anything that comes its way. And that cockle-warming 11.3% ABV should keep things nice and toasty.
This limited-edition ale comes in a gift box with a matching goblet-style glass to sip it from making it the perfect gift for any Game of Thrones fan.
