91 points, “There’s always something earthy and savoury about Neudorf’s Chardonnays, and Rosie’s Block – named after founders Tim and Judy Finn’s daughter – is an excellent value alternative to its Moutere Chardonnay. Grown on the Moutere clay gravels and wild-fermented in barrel (15% new), the result is a round, creamy, mid-weight Chardonnay offering spiced apples with subtle hints of hazelnut and flint. There’s a slice of lemon-fresh acidity which brings a brightness to the medium-length finish.” – Decanter

This precise and delicious Chardonnay is right in its peak drinking window. Not one of those overblown and heavy Chardonnays, Rosie’s Block from Neudorf is crisp, ethereal and satisfying. We love the delicate notes of toasted hazelnut, passionfruit and peach, which are kept fresh by crunchy citrus and chalky minerality. 2016 was a tricky vintage in Moutere, but Neudorf were up to the challenge and created a rather svelte and elegant rendition of this much-loved wine.

Based in the Nelson region of New Zealand’s South Island and founded in 1978 by Tim and Judy Finn, Neudorf has established a reputation for crafting award-winning wines that are restrained, structured and quite European in style. Their dry-farmed vines in the Moutere Hills are all either certified organic or currently in conversion (a three-year process), they recycle waste, use lightweight bottles and recycled cardboard packaging, donate to a children’s dialysis charity and even have an electric car charger at the cellar door to try and promote a greener outlook among their customers. Great wine and genuinely nice people; does life get any better than that?
