Made by the International Wine Challenge’s Sparkling Winemaker of the Year 2018 Nyetimber’s Blanc de Blancs 2014 is quite different from the Classic Cuvée. This pure Chardonnay flits like a butterfly from the delicate florals of spring blossom to the creamy citrus zest of lemon curd from pear to Granny Smith and then from shortbread to toast and salted butter. Crafted using 100% estate-grown grapes this is partially fermented in barrel and aged on the lees for five years. Nyetimber once again proving that they set the benchmark for English Sparkling Wine.
The ‘Nitimbreha’ estate was written about in the Domesday Book over a millennia ago and for the last few decades Nyetimber has been the vanguard for English Sparkling Wine around the world. Regularly beating Champagne in blind tastings each new release is eagerly anticipated.
