This vibrant and eye-catching collector’s item honours the mythical story of the origins of agave the heart and soul of Tequila. The unique design brings to life the vibrancy of Mexican crafts and culture through a bespoke artwork signed by Senkoe. A native of Mexico City Senkoe is an urban artist the latest in a long line of majestic Mexican muralists. His pieces have been exhibited around the world and he has collaborated with high-profile brands like Converse and HBO. Taking influence from pre-Hispanic art traditional textiles graffiti nature and alebrijes this innovative artist has created a colourful work that pulses with Mexican folklore and dreamlike reverie. The limited-edition Patrón Silver Mexican Heritage Tin was inspired by the Aztec legend of the ill-fated love between Mayahuel and Quetzalcoatl whose fusion and transfiguration to escape the fury of an evil goddess gave birth to the agave plant.

What better way to toast traditional festivities such as Día de Muertos Cinco de Mayo Guelaguetza Día de la Virgen de Guadalupe or any of the other 5 000 festivals the country has to offer could there be than combining hand-crafted Tequila and outstanding Mexican art?

We recommend enjoying this crystal-clear peppery and citrusy Silver Tequila with the family especially shared over some of the wonderful street food you find in Mexico City for example tacos al pastor esquites cochinita pibil barbacoa pambazos tamales chicharrónes or tlayudas imported from Oaxaca. We love the way it dances on the tongue with a tangy tomatillo salsa and the how it takes classic cocktails such as a Margarita to a whole new level.

The team at Hacienda Patrón say: “We didn’t invent Tequila we just perfected it.” And when you taste their spirit it’s obvious that they really have. Each bottle takes thirty people to hand craft it. The process starts in the Jalisco highlands where the Weber Blue Agave takes eight or more years to ripen. These huge plants are then harvested and chopped manually. The enormous hearts or piña are baked in brick ovens for at least three days before being crushed with an almost two tonne volcanic stone Tahona wheel. The juice is then fermented for 72 hours then distilled in handmade copper stills by Francisco Alcaraz who had been with the company from the very start until he retired in 2020. The Tequila is finally filled into artisan bottles and topped with a bulbous cork created in Lisbon. Each painstakingly perfect step is carried out by hand.

And as if that wasn’t enough Tequila Patrón also recycle their water compost their leftover agave invest in sustainable agave plant trees educate their workers support their community food bank and work with two orphanages. So this is good Tequila in more ways than one.
