97 points “Jaboulet's 2017 Hermitage Blanc Le Chevalier de Sterimberg is approximately two-thirds Marsanne and one-third Roussanne. Subtle notes of crushed stone and pencil shavings frame honey pineapple and baking spices all wrapped around a tensile core of tangerine and lime. In a year when no La Chapelle Blanc is being made this is the top white Hermitage from Jaboulet and it’s a beauty with a silky texture and a long mouth-watering finish.” – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

A vintage not to be missed. Le Chevalier de Sterimberg Blanc is crafted from Marsanne and Roussanne grapes picked by hand from 35-year-old vines on the steep slopes of Hermitage. Fermented in oak with continuous lees stirring for around a year this stunning wine brings to mind the vibrancy of Burgundy with its fresh acidity and flavours of lemongrass lime tangerine crunchy pear peach spice vanilla pastry floral honey and crushed rocks. Lip-smackingly delicious and a great gift for any white wine connoisseur.

Paul Jaboulet Aîné is a Rhône legend producing one of France’s greatest wines the iconic La Chapelle Hermitage. Their story begins with Antoine Jaboulet who founded an estate and cellar in Tain l’Hermitage in 1934. He started with vines on the steep slopes of the famous Hermitage hill and began to expand into neighbouring Crozes-Hermitage. In 2006 the company was acquired by Jean-Jacques Frey who brought substantial investment and a wealth of experience from running estates in Bordeaux (Château La Lagune) Burgundy and Champagne (the family sold Ayala to Bollinger and are part owners of the Harvey Nichols favourite Billecart-Salmon). His daughter Caroline has now taken over and has thoroughly won over the critics. The estate is certified organic and broadly follows biodynamic principles with conversion a work in progress.
