Like Procera’s classic Blue Dot Gin, this boxed Green Dot has been designed with Martinis in mind.
As the original, it's distinguished by notes of Juniper Procera which reveal rich dried berries, sea-breeze foliage and hints of lightly charred bark from juniper trees.
Procera is a proudly African craft gin created using the finest botanicals for all corners of the continent. Distilled in Nairobi, Kenya, at 1638 metres above sea level, it’s the world’s first gin to use Juniperus Procera – the only indigenous species of juniper anywhere in the southern hemisphere. The berries are picked by hand in the highland forest of Kijabe and they give Procera Gin a nuttiness and earthiness unlike anything you will have experienced before. ‘Procera’ means tall, and these juniper trees are giants, each one needing to be climbed to harvest the rare berries. The pickers know when the berries are sweet and ripe because the local baboon family start devouring them, they just have to get there first.
The African juniper is combined with a heavier botanical profile than the standard bottling, including five African peppers (selim, black, elephant, alligator and ashanti pepper), locust bean, mukombera (a woody creeper called Mondia Whitei that has a liquorice, ginger and vanilla flavour), oyster shell, seaweed, tea, mace, myrrh, honey, orange, lime, lemon and coriander.
Master Distiller Roger Jorgensen made the ultimate Martini gin with his Blue Dot. Now he has followed that up with the perfect Negroni and G&T gin. Earthy and herbal, this intense and punchy Green Dot Gin delivers pine, menthol and garden herbs, orange zest, vanilla, spices, warming pepper and a tomato-like umami quality. The texture is fabulously rich, and it becomes even richer if you add a little pinch of the African salt that comes with every bottle. This salt mix is made at the distillery and includes matching botanicals in the style of the gin itself, helping to take your experience to the next level. And then there’s that bottle, a striking objet d’art worthy of housing such an exquisite gin. Handblown by the team at Kitengela Hot Glass and finished with a palm wood stopper, a leather grip and no label; this is one bottle that certainly won’t be going in the recycling after it’s done. Maisha marefu! (That’s cheers in Swahili.)
