96 points “Querciabella's flagship Camartina is flat-out stunning. Camartina is not a huge wine as so many are in 2015 rather it possesses extraordinary finesse and elegance. Sweet floral notes red berry fruit mint and chalk notes give the 2015 soaring top notes energy and vibrancy. Beautifully persistent and sculpted the 2015 dazzles with its energy and overall intensity. There is so much to like here.” – Antonio Galloni Vinous

96 points “Though somewhat tight this red exhibits plenty of ripe fruit sweet spices and refined tannins. The overall balance is there and this is nearing a new phase in its evolution. The long fruit-filled aftertaste picks up a saline element.” – Wine Spectator

95 points “This is very racy and firm on the palate yet the exotic and wild fruit of the beautiful vintage comes through. Medium-to full-bodied with an intense finish. Needs a few years to soften. Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese. Better in 2020. From biodynamically grown grapes and vegan.” – James Suckling

95 points “One of the first Super Tuscans Querciabella’s Camartina delivers generous sophisticated dark fruit smoothly packaged in a smart oak wrap. Its dense soft dark core rewards plenty of bottle age while its moreishness urges you to pick up the corkscrew and decant rather than delay gratification.” – Decanter

Give the gift of finesse and elegance. Camartina has been Querciabella’s flagship Super Tuscan since 1981. Lovingly crafted in only the very best years using Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese from Ruffoli in Greve each component is matured in French oak for one year the blend is then created and returned to barrel for a further year. While the likes of Sassicaia Tignanello Ornellaia Luce and friends hog the limelight those in the know quietly stock up on the sleek yet muscular Camartina laced with cherry cassis plum crumble and cream cedar tar orange peel and cooked blueberries. Very stylishly adding the Super to Tuscan.

The old adage ‘from small acorns grow mighty oaks’ has never been more apt. When steel magnate and wine lover Giuseppe ‘Pepito’ Castiglione planted a seed in a rundown hobby vineyard in 1974 few would have guessed that it would flourish into the mighty Querciabella – one of the most ethical pioneering and highly respected wineries on the planet. Although Pepito saw the potential it was his son Sebastiano Cossia Castiglioni that launched the estate in Greve Tuscany to stardom growing it from a single vineyard into 69 hectares in Chianti Classico 32 hectares in Tuscany’s hottest real estate Maremma and a sustainable state-of-the-art winery complete with Tesla charging points for the environmentally conscious visitor. This truly remarkable man is an award-winning entrepreneur and a passionate vegan animal rights activist and climate change campaigner. When he isn’t sitting on the board of Sea Shepherd advising the International Anti-Poaching Foundation in Zimbabwe or investing in cutting-edge food like Beyond Meat and Vurger Co he can be found running probably the world’s only cruelty-free biodynamic winery Querciabella. Organic since 1988 shortly after they decided to go biodynamic. What makes them unique is that they’ve eschewed the spiritual aspects and the use of animal organs skulls and horns adopted by most practitioners. So as you sip Querciabella’s exceptional fine wines rest easy that no animal products or by-products have been used in any step of the farming or winemaking process. As respected critic Antonio Galloni says “Querciabella stands head and shoulders above any other estate in Chianti Classico. It’s as simple as that.”
