Created at Midleton this is an Irish classic matured in a combination of Bourbon and Oloroso Sherry casks. Like the robin redbreast on the label you’ll soon have a warm glow in your throat and chest. It displays a combination of butter festive spices toasted bread and mixed peel reminiscent of hot cross buns plus ginger oak toasted nuts marzipan creamy custard and Sherry. Made from a mash of malted and unmalted barley that’s triple-distilled in a traditional copper pot still it first appeared in 1912 when Gilbeys began selling a whiskey distilled by Jameson’s that they had matured for 12 years. Although production ceased in 1985 it was soon re-launched due to popular demand and is now better than ever.
