Bottled exclusively for Harvey Nichols, our Redbreast 18 Year Old Oloroso Sherry Single Cask is the must-have whiskey for the holiday season. It was drawn from one perfect barrel, which was hand selected by Master Blender Billy Leighton and our expert Spirits Buyers – Nick Larsson-Bell (Retail Buyer of the Year 2022) and Bryan Rodriguez (judge for the IWSC, Spirits Business, World Drinks Awards and many more). Imagine a wonderfully mature Redbreast that has been kissed by the Spanish sun and also by Santa.

Cask number 30837 – an Oloroso Sherry butt – was filled in 2003 and bottled as an 18 Year Old. It yielded just 558 precious bottles, each one rich with caramelised tarte tatin, cherry chocolate liqueurs, marzipan-covered Christmas cake, orange zest, juicy red apples, vanilla, fresh herbs, mulled wine spices and toasted oak. Bottled at a punchy cask strength of 60.2%, this is a single pot still whiskey that’s certain to keep you warm over the winter. Available nowhere else, our Redbreast 18 Year Old Oloroso Sherry Single Cask is THE Christmas spirit.

Redbreast is a living legend of the Irish whiskey scene. Made from a mash of malted and unmalted barley that’s triple-distilled in a traditional copper pot still, it first appeared in 1912 when Gilbeys began selling a whiskey distilled by Jameson’s that they had matured for 12 years. Although production ceased in 1985, it was soon re-launched due to popular demand and is now better than ever.

The Robin Redbreast is the only bird that sings continuously throughout the long Irish winters, and it’s one of the very few small birds that chooses to winter in Ireland. That enduring spirit is why it was chosen as the emblem for this special Irish whiskey. But the much-loved bird also has connotations of Christmas, because postmen in Victorian Britain – who were obviously very busy around the festive season – were nicknamed ‘Robins’ due to their bright red uniforms. That’s why they became such a common motif on Christmas cards. But who wants a card when you can have a limited-edition, never-to-be-repeated, one-of-a-kind whiskey?
