95 points “The nose is very expressive with notes of dark cherry musk and spice while the palate has great fruit purity and tannin structure – it’s full and concentrated but still wonderfully energetic and possesses proper detail. Lovely fruit purity and freshness to go with crunchy tannins this is the real deal.” – Winemag.co.za

Our Wine Buyers have been raving about this elegant red ever since the first release from the 2016 vintage. Le Luc Pinot Noir comes from Restless River’s young vineyards planted in 2013 and it’s more than a match for many in California and Burgundy. Aged for in old oak Le Luc is still crunchy and snappy with crisp cranberry cherry black plum and wild strawberry sorbet flavours.

Interlaced you’ll discover very Burgundian notes of dried herbs brambles red earth sweet spice leather and oak forests. It’s an exquisite piece of winemaking from a young yet extremely promising new site but one that really reminds us of the great wines of Gevrey-Chambertin and Clos Vougeot. We predict that in the future this is going to become one of South Africa’s most sought-after Pinot Noirs so don’t miss out.

When Craig Wessels isn’t working for his animation and design agency or directing films he and his wife Anne can be found making Restless River wines on their tiny farm in Hemel-en-Aarde located near the fishing village of Hermanus. They bought the only plot of land they could afford and have slowly transformed it into a 5-star rated winery in Platter’s guide. Armed with the coolest climate on the cape self-taught confidence tattoos biker t-shirts a couple of amphoras from Tuscany and a restless drive to experiment and learn the Wessels family are producing some of South Africa’s most exciting wines.
