Launched in 2021 this is the ultimate Champagne glass. Perfect for when you come to open your Dom Pérignon Selosse Salon or Cristal.
In 1958 Riedel launched the very first ‘wine-friendly’ glasses with the Sommeliers Series which were blown into a mould by glassblowers in Tyrol. They are still one of the most iconic glasses on the market today. The Superleggero Series uses the same technique and shape as the Sommeliers Series but it’s lead free (hence tougher) and features a slimmer aesthetic making them super light. These hand-formed glasses are simply brilliant bringing the wine drinker closer to the wine than ever before.
The design of the Superleggero Champagne glass is perfect for developing and displaying the full complexity of the finest Champagne. The egg-shaped design with the larger rim intensifies the character and releases it rather than constraining it like a classic flute does. The glass also includes a ‘sparkling point’ to aid the formation of bubbles. The result is a drinking experience of exquisite balance. Although intended specifically for the finest Champagne particularly vintage versions we also find it works beautifully with top English Sparkling.
In celebration of the company’s 265th anniversary Riedel has created some limited-edition value packs containing a pair of Superleggero Champagne glasses. And they are great value because the second glass is effectively one-third the normal price.
The Riedel family can trace their trade in luxury glassware back to Johann Cristoph born in 1673.
