This classic Fino Sherry from Sandeman Jerez is bone dry with notes of those oily roasted Marcona almonds juicy green olives lemon rind and dried apple followed by the tang of yeasty sourdough bread and sea breezes on the finish. Crisp savoury and wonderfully pungent Don Fino Sherry is going to be the perfect accompaniment to your next tapas night. It also makes a great addition to a Martini or why not get creative with a Palomino Flor or P & G cocktail. (The latter is made with Fino Sherry St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur lemon juice and Angostura Orange Bitters and is simply sensational.)
In 1790 George Sandeman (a young Scot from Perth) took a loan of £300 from his father to set up a Port and Sherry business in London. From those modest beginnings George created one of the world’s iconic wine brands. From Porto the company quickly diversified and bought Sandeman Bodegas in Jerez for Sherry production. A true innovator George Sandeman was the first one to brand all his Port pipes with GSC (George Sandeman & Co.) thus assuring provenance and quality. The brand was registered as a trademark in 1877 making it one of the oldest still in use. Following on the tradition of the house as innovators the now iconic figure of the “Don” was featured on Sandeman’s bottles as early as 1935.
