Gold medal award-winning Stauning Rye is a Danish rye whisky crafted from malted local rye and barley and matured for 3-4 years in new American oak barrels. The 100% floor-malted whisky is double-distilled in small, open fired pot stills creating a complex and deeply flavoured expression.
Expect dark, roasted aromas with a long fruity aftertaste with notes of freshly baked rye bread, wine gums, and pepper on the nose, alongside gentle dried fruit, ripe cherry and peppery oak on the palate. It is balanced and smooth with hints of vanilla and citrus peels leading to a lightly spiced, long, fruity and sweet finish. This is a full-bodied whisky that will intrigue and delight, drawing you back in again and again.
Stauning Whisky was brought to life by nine friends in a remote village on the west coast of Denmark, with the shared passion, curiosity and willingness to experiment and create. Starting out in 2005 with just two small pot stills and an old butchery, this group of friends have gone on to the produce some of Denmark’s finest whisky and to become one of the world's most up-and-coming whisky brands.
