Every new release from Tarquin’s impresses and the British Blackberry Gin is no exception. This half bottle is handcrafted using 14 botanicals including tangy British blackberries a drizzle of Cornish wildflower honey and violets picked from Tarquin’s garden. Requiring every one of his four stills – Tamara Senara Tressa and Ferarra – the result bristles with summer pudding Bakewell tart blackberry crumble sherbet and peppery juniper. With no added sugar this dry gin makes a unique Bramble Gin Spritz or Cornish twist on a Negroni.

Tarquin Leadbetter’s Southwestern Distillery in Cornwall produces craft gin at its finest. Their copper stills sit on a bed of bricks and everything is done by hand including the bottling labelling signing and wax dipping. Botanicals are macerated for 12 hours and the stills are heated with a naked flame and sealed with bread dough. This is the kind of back-to-basics that every craft drinker will love. And the flavours coming out of Cornwall’s first distillery in over a century are incredible – but that comes as no surprise when you learn that young Mr Leadbetter was a classically trained Cordon Bleu chef before embarking on his gin journey.
