Move over Pimm’s we have a new summertime favourite…

Tarquin’s Cornish Sunshine Blood Orange Gin tastes like liquid sunbeams and the first day of the summer holidays. Infused with blood oranges pink grapefruit summer fruits and aromatic gentian root for a little herbal kick it’s a juicy and bittersweet delight. Expect lots of tangy orange tart rhubarb and raspberry pine-like juniper peppery spice and a longer herby finish that will appeal to Negroni sippers. But the magic really happens when you mix it into a spritz with sparkling wine or sparkling elderflower.

We recommend filling a glass with ice then adding 50ml of Tarquin’s Cornish Sunshine Blood Orange Gin 100ml of Harvey Nichols Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore and 50ml of Harvey Nichols Orange & Lavender Tonic Water. Or mix a big jug and invite your friends around.

Tarquin Leadbetter’s Southwestern Distillery in Cornwall produces craft gin at its finest. Their copper stills sit on a bed of bricks and everything is done by hand including the bottling labelling signing and wax dipping. Botanicals are macerated for 12 hours and the stills are heated with a naked flame and sealed with bread dough. This is the kind of back-to-basics that every craft drinker will love. And the flavours coming out of Cornwall’s first distillery in over a century are incredible – but that comes as no surprise when you learn that young Mr Leadbetter was a classically trained Cordon Bleu chef before embarking on his gin journey.
