96 points “The wine has everything in place and nothing out of place… Seamless and persistent with a promise to develop magnificently.” – Sam Kim Wine Orbit

96 points “Very stylish wine with a big future. A top vintage.” – Huon Hooke

96+ points “New Zealand’s Grange equivalent only it comes from one place is much cheaper and to my tastes is significantly better and more interesting.” – Gary Walsh The Wine Front

The last review above comes from one of Australia’s leading wine critics. Grange is the wine that put Australia on the fine wine map so the Aussies are fiercely proud of it. Which hopefully demonstrates just how good New Zealand’s Coleraine is. But it’s not just our antipodean friends that love it; Decanter Magazine has described it as follows:

“New Zealand’s First Growth. Many critics consider Coleraine up there with the best Bordeaux blends in the world. The original intention may have been to mirror the top Cru Classé but today Coleraine has evolved its own style.”

This Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot and Cabernet Franc blend is one of the world’s greatest reds. Alive with concentrated crème de cassis wild strawberry Black Forest gâteau plum jam cedar pipe tobacco toasted almonds and blackberry. Don’t miss out.

Nestled in the heart of Hawke’s Bay Te Mata is one of the few New Zealand’s wineries that can claim to have been established in the 19th Century. The Estate vineyards were first planted in 1892 on free-draining north-facing slopes – the distinctive shape of the hills and unique soil composition make these sites a perfect location for grape growing. Having been in continuous operation since 1895 this independent family-owned winery is New Zealand’s oldest and one of the most highly regarded and internationally recognised.
