Originally crafted as Master Distiller Germán González Gorrochotegui’s private stock, Tears of Llorona proved to be too exceptional to keep undiscovered and since 2014 has been distributed to select countries and companies of which we are lucky to be one of.
The rare, handcrafted tequila goes beyond all others to be matured for five years in three different types of casks: Scotch whisky, sherry, and cognac. This combination creates a complex, rich and luxurious tequila, celebrating both agave and the layers of flavours that can be built through meticulous cask aging. Expect opening aromas of honey, dried fruit, vanilla and caramel, followed by sweet agave nectar, bitter chocolate, cherries and gentle spice leading into an elegant, smooth and velvety finish. A sophisticated, triple barrel aged tequila which should only be sipped neat and drunk with full concentration and appreciation.
Germán González Gorrochotegui is considered to be one of the best master tequileros alive and making tequila is in his blood. His father created the first ultra-premium tequila imported into the USA and fascinated by the business and his family’s distillery, it came as no surprise that Germán wanted to learn and immerse himself in the craft. Tears of Llorona was a story Germán heard many times as a child and it was the passionate tears of Llorona that inspired this great creation. Germán has used his passion alongside his expertise and creativity to craft this special reserve and we are very glad he did.
