The Renaissance Series is a showcase of Teeling’s very best whiskey. No.4 is an 18-year-old Single Malt that spent the first 16 years of its life in ex-Bourbon barrels before being transferred to ex-Red Pineau des Charentes barrels. The influence of this rare fortified wine is magical. It seems to layer notes of fresh grapes dried apricot candied pineapple glacé cherry nectarine fresh flowers and sunshine over Teeling’s classic flavours of vanilla Seville orange marmalade honey gingerbread digestive biscuit orchard fruit lemon drizzle cake hay spices and almond biscotti. Fast becoming our favourite after-dinner whiskey this complex drop is also a fine choice to have in the collection for the spring and summer months.
Only 9 000 bottles were made of the Renaissance Series No.4 and Teeling have since released No.5 (finished in ex-Calvados casks) so the opportunity to snag this special whiskey is dwindling by the moment. Don’t miss out.
Whiskey has been in blood of the Teeling family ever since Walter Teeling set up a small distillery on Dublin’s Marrowbone Lane in 1782. Jack and Stephen Teeling are the latest generation to follow in his footsteps establishing a distillery just down the road in 2015. When it opened their Teeling Whiskey Distillery was the first new one in Dublin for over 125 years. Progressive modern and conscious of sustainability Teeling is now responsible for some of the most innovative and exciting whiskey ever to come out of the Emerald Isle.
