98 points “Ripe decadent aromas of blackberries black truffles and black cherries with hints of violets. Dark wet earth too. Full-bodied with a solid core of beautiful pure fruit and creamy round and fine tannins. Tight and reserved but showing wonderful potential.” – James Suckling

This original wooden case of three bottles provides the opportunity to track the progress of one of Tuscany’s superstars as it ages in the bottle. Drink one now then eke the other two out over the coming decades.

2016 was one of the most highly rated vintages ever for the Brunello di Montalcino eclipsing even the monumental 2015s. So as expected Tenuta Luce has delivered a phenomenal Sangiovese again as proven by the perfect score from James Suckling. Described by the experts at Decanter as “gorgeously sculpted and nuanced” this Brunello di Montalcino 2016 displays bright blackberry cherry plum and blueberry fruit which mingles with balsamic notes wildflowers forest floor leather truffle pipe tobacco cedar rosemary star anise graphite and cream. But there’s also a red apple freshness suggesting huge potential longevity. This is a wine drinking well now but it has legs and will run and run.

Although famed for their Merlot and Sangiovese Super-Tuscans Tenuta Luce’s Brunello has a cult following especially in Japan. Tokyo would buy everything they produce of this wine so we are incredibly lucky to get hold of this visually stunning bottle.

The superstar Frescobaldi family supplied wine to Michelangelo and Henry VIII long before dazzling the world with the likes of Ornellaia Masseto CastelGiocondo and many more. So there was great excitement when Vittorio Frescobaldi teamed up with California’s iconic producer Robert Mondavi to create Luce della Vite in 1995 now known as Tenuta Luce. The grapes came from vineyards in Montalcino next to the Frescobaldi’s CastelGiocondo estate and the wines have stunned the world ever since.
