Volumes were down in 2017 due to drought and our allocation of that vintage has all been snapped up so everybody was hoping for a little more in 2018. Alas the volumes were about the same so there will be a scramble to secure bottles of the exquisite new vintage. Don’t miss out because we have a sneaking suspicion that the critics are going to adjust their scores upwards as this one matures.
Beautifully balanced and bright it’s almost as if cassis raspberry black olive cedar tobacco dried herbs menthol tea iron orange zest dark chocolate and plum pie have been formed into a perfectly spherical marble of flavour and then polished until it shines. Svelte and distinguished this is a cracking vintage that has earned a place in Sassicaia’s pantheon of greats.
