Inspired by the Silk Road the ancient trade route that linked the Western world with the Middle East and Asia Mosaic presents an eclectic array of spices and flavours from around the globe. Expect smoky campfires the heady spices of Moorish bazaars Chinese five spice juicy citrus and the oriental wood and incense of Asia’s temples. As beautiful intricate and intriguing as its label Mosaic is an exotic once-in-a-lifetime journey rendered in whisky.
The Whiskymaker’s Editions is a series of one-off releases – never to be repeated – that showcases the skill and sense of adventure of The Lakes Distillery’s whiskymaker. Having cut his teeth at Macallan Dhavall Gandhi is extremely talented so it’s always exciting when he’s given the creative freedom to experiment and diverge from The Lakes Distillery’s classic Sherry-led style.
Amidst the tranquil beauty of Cumbria’s rolling greenery dramatic fells and glassy water resides an old Victorian cattle farm that has been converted into a world-class spirits producer. Located on the shore of Bassenthwaite Lake (the only official lake in the Lake District National Park because the others are technically meres or waters) The Lakes Distillery has been highlighted as one of the top five new distilleries in the world by Time Out USA and one of the “eight distilleries to visit before you die” by World Whisky Day. The quality emanating from this high tech state of the art distillery should come as no surprise because one of the founders also set up Isle of Arran Distillers; the head spirit maker Dhavall Gandhi honed his craft at Macallan; and everybody who works in the distillery has a technical degree in distilling. This luxury brand should be firmly on the radar of all spirit connoisseurs and collectors.
