Bold, youthful and loveable. Torbreck’s Cuvée Juveniles explodes out of the glass with blackberry, violet, cassis, red apple, black tea, cherry liqueur chocolates, tobacco and spices. Hailing from vines that range in age from 40 to 150 years, this is far from juvenile, it’s seriously serious. Bottled without filtration or fining, making it vegan friendly, serve this wonderful wine with classic bistro fare, sausage and mash, Steak Diane, cassoulet, smoky lentils, roasted vegetables, and definitely a side of frites.
The Australian legend that is Torbreck was established by David Powell in 1994. Four years later he visited the famous Juveniles Wine Bar in Paris and was served a glass of Beaujolais Nouveau. Motivated by this moment, the next year he took fruit destined for a wine called The Steading and created Cuvée Juveniles. A Rhône blend inspired by a glass of Beaujolais in a bistro, made using fruit from old vines in the Barossa Valley; this is something truly unique.
