97+ points “Full-bodied with characteristic elegance and poise in spite almost of its power.” – Wine Advocate

97 points “RunRig is always complex and the 2012 doesn't disappoint in that regard mixing bacony-meaty notes with hints of black olives and ripe plums. The tannins are supremely supple but the acids are crisp resulting in a long mouth-watering finish.” – Wine Enthusiast

96 points “This hedonistic Shiraz Viognier has a pure velvet punch of crushed red cherry bilberry blackberry and raspberry fruit with confit notes and a hint of tar alongside chocolate and oak vanillin. A raft of old vine spice and minerality brings savoury balance and with a kick of alcohol great gravelly peppery resonance.” – Decanter Magazine

2012 was one of Barossa Valley’s finest vintages making RunRig – one of Torbreck’s longest-lived wines – a must-have for any Australian wine connoisseur. The perfect conditions allowed the soil to speak through the wine rather than the weather. Crafted from plots in legendary locations like Seppeltsfield Greenock Ebenezer Lyndoch Rowland Flat and Moppa and matured in oak for around three years RunRig is simply spectacular. Erupting from the glass with layers of raspberry jam crème de cassis cherry liqueur chocolates plum pie black olive clove smoked meat tar herbes de Provence and cinnamon. This is an immense wine that will give great pleasure right through to 2030.

The Australian legend that is Torbreck was established by David Powell in 1994. RunRig – an old-vine Shiraz with a splash of Viognier – is often compared to the wines produced on the steep slopes of Côte-Rôtie in the Rhône Valley and deservedly so. Tobreck takes its name from a forest near Inverness in Scotland and RunRig refers to way land was distributed among Highland clansmen. These widely dispersed plots were communally managed much like the approach taken in Barossa Valley by Torbreck.
