International Wine & Spirit Competition Rum Trophy Winner 2018.

Crowned the best rum in the world by the IWSC in 2018 this VSOP Réserve Spéciale Rhum Agricole has been aged in a mixture of French and American oak for around five and a half years. A great way to get to know Trois Rivières it erupts from the glass with crunchy orchard fruit rhubarb and custard sticky toffee pudding tangy grapes spiced fruitcake gingerbread tobacco chocolate and liquorice. Sip this neat or mix it into a Caribbean twist or an Old Fashioned.

Highly aromatic agricole rhum is crafted by distilling fermented cane juice predominantly in the French West Indies Guadalupe and Martinique. The rum from Martinique is renowned for its immense quality so much so that in 1996 it was awarded the prestigious French “appellation d'origine contrôlée” – putting it on a level with some of the world’s greatest wines. And the finest produced on the island must be those of Trois Rivières.

Trois Rivières is named after the waterways – Bois d'Inde Oman and St. Pierre – that encircled the original estate established by Nicolas Fouquet The Superintendent of King Louis XIV in 1660. The terroir here in the far south of the island has magnesium-rich clay soils and lots of sea water creating rums of distinction and a touch of the maritime. Their AOC Rhum de la Martinique is created by fermenting cane juice in open vats using indigenous yeasts. Once it hits roughly the ABV of beer it’s distilled in a Creole Column Still and then aged under the watchful eye of Cellar Master Daniel Baudin. As Al Green almost sang take me to three rivers.
