Receiving a gold medal at the World Whisky Masters as well as the International Wine & Spirit Competition 2023, the limited-edition release of Wire Works Caduro Whisky is a unique vatting of single malt matured in a combination of American and French oak; both are first fill ex-bourbon and White Peak’s signature STR casks (re-conditioned wine barriques that have been shaved, toasted and re-charred). The resulting expression reveals a depth of fruitiness and intensity that harmoniously marries with the whisky's lightly peated character.
The complex but approachable single malt reveals orchard fruit, banana and candy cane aromas leading to zesty citrus, green apple, vanilla fudge, cereal and tobacco. The warm, spicy finish delivers a rich mouthfeel with delights of butterscotch, marmalade, crème brûlée and a wisp of smoke. The lightly peated, core house style shines through in the Caduro expression and showcases the rich essence and authenticity of the whisky.
Housed in the old Johnson and Nephew Wire Works Building, White Peak Distillery produces Wire Works Whisky, Shining Cliff Gin and White Peak Rum. The company proudly focuses on the unique Derbyshire provenance and heritage, whilst developing their own traditions. Founded in 2016, by Max and Claire Vaughan, their first whisky release was in 2022, and with a flurry of medals already received, this distillery will be an exciting one to watch.
