With the award for best Blanc de Noir in 2022 by WineGB Awards, the 2014 Vintage from the Wiston Estate is a masterful expression of elegance and complexity. The expression is made using a blend of 65% Pinot Noir and 35% Pinot Meunier which have been fermented in five- and six-year-old Burgundy oak barrels before being aged on lees for four and a half years.

The exceptional harvest from 2014 has resulted in a wine radiating with aromas of lemon cake, macadamia nut and subtle hints of brioche. The round and weighty palate bursts with notes of rhubarb, dried orange and greengage with an underlying richness and hint of minerality leading to a long finish. The vintage sparkles with vibrant acidity, lending brightness and energy to the wine, while its fine, persistent mousse imparts a luxurious mouthfeel. A balanced and brilliant example of a Blanc de Noirs with undeniable potential to age further.

Wiston Estate is a renowned English sparkling wine producer, situated in the South Downs, with a heritage dating back to 1743. Founded by the Goring family, the vineyard’s chalky soils and south facing slopes provide the perfect terroir for cultivating Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes. The award-winning vineyard, led initially by skilled winemaker Dermot Sugrue and since 2021 Marcus Rayner-Ward, has earned acclaim for its elegant and refined sparkling wines that embody the spirit of English elegance and excellence.
