Aged in a combination of Bourbon and Sherry casks for over two decades it bursts out of the glass with flavours of hot cross bun tarte tatin gooseberry crumble ginger cake banana honey strawberry jam garden mint and charred oak. While most Scottish distilleries like to paint a picture of bucolic bliss or the remote wilderness Auchentoshan is a touch more urban. Not far from the tower blocks and tarmac of Glasgow they make their whisky a little differently. Every drop is triple distilled giving a lighter smoother and more floral character than most of their counterparts. This malt is good for all seasons – not just for when it’s pure Baltic – and will appeal to fans of Irish whisky. Dangerously easy to drink you need this in your drinks cabinet.
