Benromach harkens back to a style of making whisky that has long been lost, where the barley is malted with just a hint of peat smoke, before being ground into grist on a four-roller ‘Boby’ mill. The mash is brought down by hand, the yeast is measured by eye and the distillers are there at every step of the distillation process to guide it. This means that the whisky shows the craft and skill of all those involved in making it, meaning the whiskies all show the Beromach character, being bold, robust and delicious.
The 10 year is the core whisky for Benromach, matured in the finest oak casks, and delivering a delicious whisky. On the nose you get fresh and vibrant orchard fruity, dark honey, vanilla and just a hint of smoke. On the palate, the maltiness comes in with stewed apple, warm toffee, black cherry and a finish with a wisp of smoke.
