The Bowmore 18 Year Old Sherry Cask deviates slightly from the 12 and 15 year old with the finish being in Pedro Ximenez Sherry casks. For those yet to try Pedro Ximenez, this is an incredibly rich sherry that tastes like a raisin wine liqueur and can have a really strong influence on the cask.
This creates a dramatically layered and balanced whisky, with notes of dark chocolate, coffee beans, treacle, toffee, raisins, dates, orange zest and pineapple and rich peat on the nose. On the palate, this is enhanced further with notes of aniseed and cacao nibs with an incredibly deep and complex finish.
