This is a truly magnificent whisky from Bowmore, aged in hand-selected ex-Bourbon and Oloroso Sherry casks, with a first-fill Pedro Ximenez cask finish. A combination of the time aging in the cask and the carefully selected finishes craft this multi-layered whisky; intense and complex, but beautifully balanced.
The first aromas for this show the character of Bowmore with warming ginger, iodine, tobacco leaves, heather, tanned leather, beeswax and rich toffee. On the palate there’s sweet toffee, vanilla, sweet cinnamon, nutmeg, smoked bacon, as well as red berries, stewed rhubarb and salty smokiness. The finish is long and spicy, with sweet wood and a touch of gentle smoke to finish it off.
