Moa Gürbüzer is a former family therapist and social worker who witnessed the detrimental effect of alcohol on society first-hand for more than two decades. This inspired her to create Oddbird, an alternative that bucks the trend of our powerful drinking culture by providing world-class wines that are liberated from alcohol. Along the way, she enlisted the help of one of the world’s leading Champagne experts, Richard Juhlin. Support from a person that holds the world record for the most Champagne ever tasted (13,000+ unique Champagnes in his lifetime in case you were wondering), maybe goes some way to explaining why the quality of Oddbird’s alcohol-free sparkling is so immense.

Oddbird Rosé is made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grown in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of France. The grapes are picked young to capture the freshness and vibrancy of the aromatics, and the wine is then aged for twelve months, including a short time in small oak casks to add richness and nuttiness. What astounded us is the skill in the de-alcoholising process, which retains all the intensity and elegance of the wine. Summer berries dance with notes of zingy lemon sorbet, crunchy Granny Smith apple, biscuit and honey on toast. This alcohol-free and gloriously silky sparkling is the perfect way to make sure no guest ever feels excluded from the celebration. The sense that “alcohol-free” means missing out has been dispelled forever.
