Born out of rebellion against wine’s rules and pretentions Ramona puts the fun back in and the pinkie firmly down. With no requirement for fancy glassware a bottle opener of any kind or even a special occasion Ramona is the perfect refresher for picnics music festivals garden parties barbeques and trips to the beach. It’s also ideal for smuggling onto long train journeys or into the cinema. And if you’re feeling creative try mixing this lemon edition with gin a little fresh lemon a dash of sugar syrup and maybe a sprig of lemon thyme to create a Ramona 75.
Ramona was created by the lovely Jordan Salcito a veteran sommelier and the Wine & Beverage Director for David Chang’s Momofuku Group. Her selection has been awarded “Most Original Wine List in the World” by World of Fine Wine so you’re in safe and rather cutting-edge hands. Jordan Salcito is our kind of girl; when we went to New York to meet her she wore a dress from one of our favourite London-based designers to honour our visit. She told us that she had become obsessed with the spritzes of the 1980s and frustrated with the stuffy nonsense that surrounds fine wine. This drove her to create Ramona which is the perfect blend of nostalgia innovation and Riviera fun. Her first test batch sold out long before the first day of summer so she knew she was on to something special. Since then Rihanna Alicia Keys and Kanye West have all been spotted sipping on Ramona.
