With grapes sourced exclusively from six Grand Cru villages, the Besserat de Bellefon Blanc de Blancs is the “haute couture” signature of the estate. Made with 100% Chardonnay and going through the unique process of less “liqueur de tirage” – a blend of sugar, yeast and must – at the point of bottling, this Champagne exudes a light creamy finesse of effervescence with a smooth, well-rounded mouth. It presents fresh, fruity and floral notes of zesty citrus, fresh apricots, honeysuckle and acacia alongside an intensely mineral background. A structured, characteristic champagne perfectly designed to be served at any great occasion and with the great amplitude to adapt to many dishes.
The House of Besserat de Bellefon was founded in 1843 in “Aÿ” by Edmond Besserat but it wasn’t until the marriage of his grandson Edmond to Yvonne Méric de Bellefon in 1920 that saw the beginning of Champagne Besserat de Bellefon with the house acquiring the family coat of arms along with the extended name. Besserat de Bellefon became a household name in famous cabarets like Crazy Horse and Moulin Rouge in the 1960s and 1970s, and with the Champagne being chosen for Air France’s Concorde flights in 1978 and served in the Élysée Palace in 1989, the quality of the Champagne was clear for all to see.
