Made with a blend of Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and going through the unique process of less “liqueur de tirage” – a blend of sugar, yeast and must – at the point of bottling, this Champagne exudes a light, creamy finesse of effervescence with a smooth well-rounded mouth. It presents dazzling clarity and is brimming with the fruity, floral and nutty tones of Mirabelle plums, honeysuckle, lime blossom and hazelnut. The sumptuous and harmonious Champagne works just as well on its own or paired with smoked duck breasts, goats' cheese and onion tartlets and tart citrussy desserts.
The House of Besserat de Bellefon was founded in 1843 in “Aÿ” by Edmond Besserat but it wasn’t until the marriage of his grandson Edmond to Yvonne Méric de Bellefon in 1920 that saw the beginning of Champagne Besserat de Bellefon with the house acquiring the family coat of arms along with the extended name. Besserat de Bellefon became a household name in famous cabarets like Crazy Horse and Moulin Rouge in the 1960s and 1970s, and with the Champagne being chosen for Air France’s Concorde flights in 1978 and served in the Élysée Palace in 1989, the quality of the Champagne was clear for all to see.
