2015 was an outstanding vintage in Saint-Julien making this a most intriguing prospect. Vim and vigour are the order of the day with this classic Claret from Château Lagrange. Enticing aromatics draw you in leading onto a wonderful melange of cherry chocolate liqueurs blackcurrant jam blackberry crumble raspberries truffles autumns leaves Cuban cigars and cedar. We could drink this all day long – especially alongside herby stews roasts and bakes – but it will also reward careful cellaring.
Château Lagrange is a winery that has changed name several times since the middle ages and was once owned by Baron de Brane along with Brane-Cantenac and Mouton Rothschild the latter being called Brane-Mouton at the time. Lagrange was bought by Suntory in 1983 and the Japanese company have made big investments in the château yielding fabulous results in recent years.
