The large distillery in the Northern Highlands that we know today as Clynelish was built in the late 1960s. But the now-silent original Clynelish distillery – which came to be known as Brora – was established back in 1819. This is therefore a whisky maker with a long and dramatic history. Now part of Diageo’s ‘Classic Malts’ line-up this is a whisky that really lives up to that moniker.
The weighty slightly peaty and deeply coastal whiskies produced at Clynelish are much valued by blenders and connoisseurs for their incredible complexity. And we think that 14 Year Old is the one of the finest entry-level whiskies produced by any distillery in the world. Fresh and briney it’s one of the ultimate aperitif drams.
